2:10 – Organdi 13/2 E/W
Despite being a nine-year-old, Organdi has only raced twelve times under rules (and just twice over fences) which makes her one of the least exposed horses in this race by some distance.
After falling on her chasing debut back in February, which came on unsuitably soft ground, it was great to see her put in a good round of jumping last time out. Perhaps her only notable error came at the fourth last, just as the tempo was lifting which didn’t help her cause yet she still ran on nicely to finish third, just three lengths adrift of the winner.
For all that her last run came in a small field, I would argue that a better quality of opposition than she faces today; the winner, Back on the Lash, has been in fine form during the summer while the runner up, Thistle Do Nicely, looked set to win on his next start before falling at the last. Ironically, his final flight departure handed the win to Rhythm Is A Dancer, who was tailed off in fourth behind the three aforementioned horses last time out.
Dropped one pound for that effort, Organdi looks ready to strike over fences and she certainly looks ready to try three-miles for the first time; she’s from a staying family (half sister to a 3m1f winner, dam a 3m winner who is a half sister to a Grand National runner up) and she was running on nicely last time out.
Her trainer has only sent one horse to Bangor since 2015, which resulted in a win while his record with horses having their third start over fences is very good; they have a 21% S/R (A/E 1.55) and are profitably to back blindly. In comparison, his strike rate with horses having their first/second run over fences is 4% (A/E 0.36) / 8% (A/E 0.58)
